Diesel Engine & Aftertreatment Repair
A check-engine light on a modern diesel can mean a $40 sensor or a $14,000 overhaul, and the difference is a proper diagnosis. We read the codes, then we find out what caused them.
What we work on
- Diagnostics β full fault-code scan, live data, and the mechanical checks the codes cannot tell you
- Aftertreatment / DPF β regen faults, clogged filters, DEF system and sensor failures, derates
- Fuel system β injectors, lifts and pumps, hard-start and power-loss complaints
- Cooling β overheating, water pumps, radiators, fans and thermostats
- Turbo and air β actuators, VGT problems, boost leaks, charge-air coolers
- Oil leaks and consumption β traced to a source, not just cleaned up
- In-frame and overhaul β quoted honestly against the value of the truck
Derated and losing power?
Most derates come from the aftertreatment side β a filter that has not completed a regen, a DEF quality or level fault, a failed NOx or temperature sensor. Some of it we can clear at the shop the same day; some of it needs a filter service or a real repair before the truck will make power again.
Call before you keep driving it. Running a truck through a derate to "get it home" is how a $600 sensor job turns into a filter you have to buy.
Engines we see every week
Detroit DD13, DD15 and DD16, Cummins ISX and X15, PACCAR MX, Volvo D13 and Mack MP8. Those are the engines running this corridor, and they are what the shop is set up for β including the PM packages that keep them out of the repair bay in the first place.
What it costs
| Diagnostic time | $165/hr |
| Electrical diagnostics | $185/hr |
| Engine repairs | Quoted before we start |
| PM package (Detroit DD13/15/16) | $509 |
Published prices are what we charge at the counter. Parts and anything not listed are quoted before we start β you approve the number first.
Questions we get asked
How much is diesel engine diagnosis?
Diagnostic time bills at $165 an hour, $185 for electrical work. Once we know what is wrong, the repair is quoted before anyone starts on it.
Can you fix a DPF problem the same day?
Often, yes β a forced regen or a sensor is same-day work. A plugged filter that needs service or replacement depends on parts, and we tell you which one you are looking at.
Is it worth overhauling my engine?
Sometimes not, and we will say so. We quote the overhaul against what the truck is worth and what else it needs β that conversation is free.
Which engine brands do you service?
Detroit, Cummins, PACCAR, Volvo, Mack and International.
